The community is invited to join us in the Charles Gabus Memorial Tree Park for our third annual Sustainability Fair. The fair will highlight various resources available to the community as you begin or continue your sustainability journey. New for 2026: the library has partnered with the Walnut Creek Watershed Festival to bring you even more vendors and resources for sustainability!
Representatives include Art is Rad, Blank Park Zoo, City of Clive, City of Urbandale, City of West Des Moines, Cultivate Local Food Connections, Digital Red, Electronic Asset Security, Good Neighbor Iowa, GreenIowa AmeriCorps, Iowa Department of Natural Resources, Iowa Family Gardens , Iowa Outdoor Products, Iowa Waste Exchange, Metro Waste Authority, Midamerican Energy, Neighborhood Finance Corporation, Pocket Prairies of Des Moines, Prairie Fire Restoration, The Rain Campaign, Ruralcity, reBorrowed, Sustainable Iowa Land Trust (SILT), Sustainable Urbandale, Urbandale Water Utility, and Zellaphant Books.
- Bring your own water bottle to fill up at the water station provided by Des Moines Water Works and enjoy fresh fruit from Urbandale Hy-Vee.
- While you’re checking out all of the different booths, enjoy acoustic music from Vibes and Vows.
- The first 50 visitors will receive a Donna Kessler Seed Library tote to take home + anyone who visits each vendor will be entered in a prize drawing for a sustainable gift basket!
